About TerraTrade

We ran the desk before we built the software.

TerraTrade is the operating layer for cross-border trade finance. It exists because our team spent eight years originating and servicing receivables programmes by hand, and knew exactly which parts were broken.

Operated by Convergence Capital Group Ltd. Offices in Singapore, Hong Kong and the United States.

Why we built it

Trade finance is old, enormous, and structurally slow.

An exporter in a developing economy waits 60 to 120 days for money they have already earned. The bank assessing them runs on infrastructure designed decades ago, the compliance work is done by hand, and access to capital is decided as much by geography and relationships as by the quality of the trade.

None of that is a technology problem in the interesting sense. The credit case is well understood and the product is a century old. What makes it slow is the operational layer around it: onboarding across jurisdictions, checking documents at volume, keeping screening current, coordinating a process that spans weeks and three companies, and proving afterwards what was done.

TerraTrade is that layer. Not a lender and not a bank, but the infrastructure connecting the participants: exporters who need liquidity, buyers optimising payables, institutions deploying capital, and platforms embedding finance into their own products.

  • Eight years of originating and servicing receivables before writing the software
  • Built for the corridors banks price as too hard, not the ones they already serve
  • Infrastructure and operations, with regulated activity sitting with licensed partners

How we got here

From running programmes to building the rails.

  1. 01

    2016–2022 · Convergence Capital

Founded and operated receivables finance programmes across Southeast Asia, South Asia and cross-border OECD corridors, originating and servicing institutional-grade trade receivables for close to a decade, and learning where credit, compliance and counterparty management actually break at scale.

  2. 02

    2022–2024 · Platform acquisition

The gap between origination capability and technology infrastructure was the constraint on everything. We acquired the assets of a fintech platform serving the banking sector and began folding its infrastructure into a single modular stack, moving from pure origination to a full-stack provider.

  3. 03

    2025–present · TerraTrade

Launched as a unified trade finance platform, combining that operational history with durable workflow orchestration, document AI and an audit trail built for regulated lenders. Now serving exporters, buyers, institutions and capital providers across APAC and global corridors.

How we work

Four things we will not trade away.

These are the commitments that decide what we build and, more often, what we refuse to build.

01 Operators first
The team's background is trade finance, structured credit and capital markets, not only software. We have structured and serviced the transactions the platform now runs, which is why it is shaped the way it is.
02 One integrated layer
Technology, operations and capital infrastructure delivered together rather than as point solutions an institution has to assemble and own the seams between.
03 Risk at every layer
Counterparty validation, transaction monitoring and portfolio analytics are part of the foundation, not a module bolted on once the origination flow works.
04 Emerging market commitment
The businesses that most need institutional-grade capital are the hardest to onboard. Reducing that friction is the point of the automation, not a side effect of it.

Where we operate

Rooted in Asia Pacific, connected globally.

Three offices, and operational coverage across the corridors where cross-border trade finance is hardest to arrange.

01 Singapore
Asia Pacific headquarters. Regional hub for Southeast Asian trade corridors and institutional partnerships.
02 Hong Kong
Greater China and North Asia operations. Intra-APAC trade flows and cross-border structuring.
03 United States
US buyer and capital market relationships, supporting APAC-to-US export corridors.

  • No commitment at the first conversation
